Room in the Inn is a local program enlisting churches to provide food and shelter for Outer Banks homeless people during the coldest months of the year. Local churches choose a week to host both men and women guests; Duck United Methodist Church will host December 1-8. We need volunteers to serve dinner and to be overnight chaperones. Watch this video testimony from a couple of Duck Church Room in the Inn volunteers:
Each day, we provide breakfast around 7 AM, a bag lunch, and the guests depart for the day around 7:30 AM to a central intake location or to their job site if they are employed. Our guests return at 6:15 PM, and we provide dinner at 6:30 PM. We provide overnight chaperones to keep an eye on things during the evening.
You can be God's hands and feet with this wonderful program. If you'd like to help by providing an evening meal or chaperoning during the nighttime hours, contact Jim Cotter at jimandpam1@mac.com or 252-305-1260. Feel free to team up with others to help!
