Outer Banks Community, it's time to come together for one of our own!
Early in the morning on Sunday June 30th, the Buchanan family home in Southern Shores caught fire. David Buchanan and his three girls, Jessie, Anna, and Casey, have been members of Duck Church for many years. The fire apparently started with a grill near the house and caused severe damage. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the fire.
As you are probably aware, insurance helps a great deal with devastating home fires. However, the family will be responsible for paying deductibles and buying replacement items for things lost in the fire. If you feel moved to help financially, you can give in one of the 3 following ways:
1. Give online: On the Duck United Methodist Church website, www.duckchurch.org, go to the "Give" tab at the top of the page. Then, in the drop down menu, choose "Give Online Here". Enter the amount you would like to give in the "Designated Giving" box, and then specify the "Buchanan Fire Fund".
2. Mail a check: Simply, write a check to Duck UMC, Memo: Buchanan Fire Fund. Then mail the check to Duck UMC, PO Box 8010, Duck, NC 27949.
3. Drop off a check at the church: Write a check to Duck UMC, Memo: Buchanan Fire Fund. Our church office is open Monday-Thursday, 9 AM-5 PM (however, the office will be closed on July 4th). Our physical address is 1214 Duck Road, Duck, NC.
We know that the folks of Duck Church and our larger Outer Banks Community are so incredibly generous. It's one of the best things about living on the OBX--the way that we serve and take care of each other! Thank you, in advance, for any amount you can give.
"I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:34-35)
